Pining For Pooch When In Paradise

Pining For Pooch When In Paradise?

Survey By Concierge.com Reveals You Are Not Alone

December 21, 2007

The Concierge.com Travel/Lifestyle survey also reveals 26 percent of
adult Americans consult the Internet first when choosing or planning
a vacation. This is more than they consult other travel authorities
including travel agents (22 percent), guide books (11 percent) and
newspapers/magazines (10 percent). Consumers are using the Internet
as their primary tool for researching and making travel plans because
its timely and comprehensive, said Jonathan Fishel, general
manager, Concierge.com. For example, our site, Concierge.com, offers
great new travel deals each day, as well as an extensive selection of
photos and in-depth articles from Conde Nast Traveler.

When planning a vacation, more men consult the Internet first (25
percent), while women consult the Internet (26 percent) and travel
agents (26 percent) first equally. With the West being the epicenter
of the Internet boom, 34 percent of people in this region tend to
consult the Internet first when planning a vacation, versus their
East Coast counterparts who rely more heavily on a travel agent (33
percent) than the Internet (21 percent). Not surprisingly, Internet
users are four and half times more likely to choose the Internet as
the travel authority they consult first than travel agents (64
percent versus 14 percent, respectively).

On The Road Again

Three out of four adults dont begin planning their next vacation until
they are back from their last vacation more than one month. And 90
percent of those travelers wait until three months have passed to
begin planning the next trip. However, men are twice as likely as
women (19 percent of men versus 9 of women) to start planning their
next vacation within a month of their return. Also, people who use
the Internet to plan their vacation are more likely to begin planning
their next excursion within a month (17 percent versus 12 percent,
respectively).

Aaah, Vacation!

More than half of the adult Americans surveyed (52 percent) claimed
that they feel stressed, and although a vacation offers temporary
relief, two out of five people who feel stress said they feel the
onset of stress within one day or less of their return. The survey
shows that women are more likely than men to feel their stress return
on the way home (19 percent versus 12 percent).
